Punk Rock Began on Staten Island?

My dear friend David Elliott says Punk Rock Music was born on Staten Island. David Johansen from The New York Dolls has been a lifelong resident. Sure, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop might disagree, but, there is something to this idea, look it up! If you are a SI Punk Rock musician, it's a good claim: "Hey our neighbor invented this shit!" This page is dedicated to the history of the various indigenous scenes and sub-scenes that have existed here on Staten Island: New York's forgotten, most conservative borough and long time dumping ground for the capital of the world's waste. It's here that we're going to share our art, music and stories untold, legendary and long forgotten. Things are going to be loud, and often not pretty. This is Staten Island Hardcore!
